How grandma was put into a psychiatric ward because of a summer skier :)

The grandma has freaked out!
The greek newspaper To Vima publishes once a week, a magazine along with the newspaper called Vimagazino. I was reading the other day and I found a very funny article which shows how utterly stupid sometimes psychiatrists can be.
This article was published in an one page column where the readers submit their own stories. This time the writer tells a story that happened in London in the summer of 1989. There was a company of seven greek post-graduate students, who had only a few days left before their return to Greece.
They remembered that one of their friends, called Pavlos (which actually means Paul), had his birthday. So they decided to organize a surprise party. Since Pavlos was very fond of skiing, they also bought him a complete new set of skiing equipment.

Well, in this occasion there were more than three
Then the narrator tells us how they made the party, which was a big success. Apparently, they all got completely drunk. At 3:20 Pavlos, in an altered mental state
, decided that he wanted to ski with his new equipment. He walked outside on the corridor wearing only his underwear and his equipment.
At the same time, an old lady staying downstairs, called Miss Penny Bolger, was moving upstairs to complain for the noise. This proved to be a huge mistake, since at that time Pavlos crashed down on her, as he was skiing on the stairs. The guy was laughing, but the poor lady was in a state of shock. The lady didn’t seem to have any bruises, but they decided to call an ambulance, whatsoever.
VS
The grandma against the skier
The next day, Pavlos, feeling somewhat guilty over what had happened, decided to go and visit the old lady. He bought some flowers, went to the hospital and asked for the number of the room where she was staying. The secretary could not find any people with that name. Pavlos’ anxiety was growing. Maybe the poor lady was having a surgery. Then, after a while, the secretary found that Miss Penny was not hospitalized in the department where Pavlos was looking for her. "Then, where is she?" he asked. "Don’t worry" responded the nurse. "She is in the psychiatric ward". "In the psychiatric ward?" asked Pavlos. "Yes, she was insisting all night that she had crashed on a skier".
Well, if that is not a remarkable case of utter psychiatric stupidity, then I don’t know what is.

The psychiatrist wins…

Unfortunately, taking a proper history of the patient is underrated.
