Introducing Scholarpedia and the Neural Correlates of Consciousness

consciousness

I don’t know if you have noticed it, but there’s a site called Scholarpedia. It seems it was created in 2006, but I hadn’t found the site until recently. What is most interesting is that it’s a lot like Knol, since the articles are written by respectful authors with a scientific style. It seems that Knol was not that original at all ;-) .

Anyway, I found Scholarpedia through a very interesting article concerning the Neural Correlates of Consciousness. The authors are Dr. Florian Mormann and Dr. Christof Koch. I am not familiar with dr. Mormann, but Christoff Koch is a prominent figure in the study of consciousness and has also written a few articles in Scientific American.

The article is one of the best I have read. It is very well written and explains a lot of the basics of consciousness. I highly recommend it to anyone who is not familiar with the subject and wants to learn the basics. Those of you who read this blog will probably already know that I am very interested in this field. This article may help you understand better some of my previous articles. I will also probably use it as a reference for future articles, when I feel the need to explain a few things.
